The bleed area is the extra 1/8 inch of image information that goes beyond the finished size of your
business card. This bleed area allows us to print your card oversized and cut it down to
the finished size of 2 x 3.5. This gives the appearance that the printing
prints or "bleeds" off the edge of the card. Because cutting may vary a
minute amount, you should have ALL text or other important information within the
max-image area. You don't want part of your address or phone numbers too
close to the edge of the card because it would look off balance!
When creating your file, make the page size equal to the printed size of your card. If
your design bleeds, the document size should be 3.75 x 2.25 inches. We will be trimming the card down to
2 x 3.5 inches. If there is no bleed, your document size should be 3.5 x 2 inches.
Designing with borders can be difficult. Thin borders in the "no type
area" are not recommended because if there is any variance in the
cutting the border will be affected visually. To avoid an "off-center"
look it is best not to have any lines thick or thin near the edge of
your business cards
Please provide one design per business card layout. A multi-up document
will not be accepted. If you have a two sided card, please provide a two page
layout or two files.
